Town Board
ELECT DAVID DECANCIO

For the past two decades David DeCancio has been a dedicated community leader. As a Town Board Member he will bring a new energy, inclusiveness, and transparency to town government. In 2018 David was the recipient of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce Community Spirit Award for his commitment to our community and extensive volunteerism — including Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited (BOU) and playing an integral part of the First Night Bethlehem organizing committee. He is the proud son of Cuban refugees and would be the first Latino elected to the Bethlehem Town Board.  David is committed to making Bethlehem a “Smart Community” to enhance the town’s responsiveness, transparency, and operations.

“As your town board member I’ll continue doing what I’ve been doing for two decades – rolling up my sleeves and working with, for, and alongside you to make Bethlehem a place we can all be proud to call home.”

—David R DeCancio

REELECT MAUREEN CUNNINGHAM

Maureen is a results-oriented environmental leader, creative thinker, and clean water advocate with 25 years of experience in strategic planning, partnership building, and executive management at the state, federal, and international level. She and her husband have two boys in the Bethlehem Central School District.

As a fifth-generation Upstate New Yorker passionate about our quality of life and community character, she has been an active volunteer with the Bethlehem Youth Court and Friends of Five Rivers, PTA and youth activities, and town committees such as the Equity and Justice Working Group, Bike and Pedestrian Committee, and Conservation Easement Review Board.

For her second term on the Town Board, her priorities will be walkable and bikeable streets, a just transition from fossil fuels, equity and justice, open space protection, sound fiscal management, and local business development. Maureen is proud to serve all town residents in prioritizing a safe, welcoming, and thriving community for all.

Superintendent of Highways
REELECT MARC DORSEY

Marc Dorsey is a dedicated public servant, a military veteran and our candidate for a second term as Bethlehem Highway Superintendent. He is a lifelong resident of Bethlehem and lives in Selkirk with his family.

Within months of Marc's first term, the Covid-19 pandemic struck. Marc's military and emergency response training gave him the background and foresight in moving forward in a global pandemic. In leading the department, Marc protected staff safety and health while continuing to provide services to our residents. Despite the pandemic, the Highway Department paved over 12 miles of road, cleared two of the largest storms in our town's history, completed the compost facility project, and captured $500,000 in grant money.

In 2021, the Highway Department had a banner Spring Cleanup, installed sidewalks, began paving, planted new trees, and continues to work hard. As the pandemic winds down, Marc is ready to move forward with his crew to provide the services our town deserves and to invest in the community through better roads, parks, and overall quality of life for Bethlehem’s residents.

Town Supervisor
RE
ELECT DAVID VANLUVEN

David is a progressive Democrat committed to ensuring that our town government plays a constructive role in the well-being of our community.

In just 3 years as Town Supervisor, he has:
  • delivered fiscally responsible budgets that provide outstanding town services;
  • created the new 147-acre Normans Kill Ravines nature park;
  • launched a community-based process for updating our Comprehensive Plan to better guide development;
  • brought the community and police together to envision a more modern approach to policing and addressing systemic racism;
  • taken action to make our streets and sidewalks safer for drivers, cyclists, and walkers alike;
  • ensured that town employees remained safe while continuing all town services during the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • worked hard to land a new multi-million dollar offshore wind tower manufacturing facility, which will create more than 300 jobs; and
  • brought a positive, can-do approach to serving our community.

David’s leadership is non-partisan and community focused, because at the local level, it’s results that matter.

Town Clerk
REELECT NANCI MOQUIN

2010 was the first year Nanci was elected. She is in her sixth term as Town Clerk and eighteenth year as a Town employee. Change in the office over that time was inevitable, some was instituted by Nanci, some by others, and some by circumstances no one could imagine. During the challenging year of COVID, Nanci did her best to continue the services that only her department can give. She promises to continue that dedication to the residents of this Town.

Town Justice

REELECT ANDY KIRBY

Judge Kirby has proudly served as a Bethlehem Town Justice since 2014. Prior to being elected, he served nine years in Bethlehem Town Court as a Town Prosecutor. During his seven years on the bench, Judge Kirby has handled over 30,000 criminal, vehicle and traffic, landlord/tenant, and small claims cases. Judge Kirby has worked with and earned the respect of local and state law enforcement, the Albany County District Attorney’s office, the Albany County Public Defenders’ office, as well as the many local criminal defense attorneys who regularly appear in court.

In addition to his judicial experience, Judge Kirby is a nationally recognized trial attorney and maintains a private law practice at the law firm of Conway & Kirby, which is located at the Four Corners in the center of town. As a small business owner, Judge Kirby manages attorneys, paralegals, and support staff daily. He regularly handles some of the most difficult types of cases and appears before various courts and juries throughout New York State. His extensive civil trial experience helps him as a Town Justice, particularly when he presides over jury trials in Bethlehem Town Court.
